Diabetes and Kidney Disease: From Pathogenesis to Management

Diabetes is one of the leading causes of chronic kidney disease (CKD), with diabetic nephropathy being a major complication. This session will focus on the pathogenesis of kidney disease in diabetes, including the role of hyperglycemia, inflammation, and the renin-angiotensin system in kidney damage. Experts will discuss the latest research on the mechanisms behind diabetic kidney disease (DKD) and the impact of glucose control and blood pressure management on slowing disease progression.

The track will also explore emerging treatments for diabetic nephropathy, including novel pharmacological therapies, stem cell treatments, and dialysis options. Attendees will learn about the importance of early detection and monitoring of kidney function in diabetic patients and the integration of nephrology and endocrinology in managing diabetes-related kidney complications.
